Hi Malaysia and Singapore historical were part of the same country until 1965 when Singapore become a independent country therefore we share many food, culture, customs etc. This kueh is very popular among the Peranakans as a snack or as a dessert. In the old days, it's served at furnerals because of the blue and green colours. But nowadays we eat it anytime we want. The custard part is actually kaya (coconut jam) but steamed till it harden. It taste sweet and creamy. It's made with coconut milk, eggs, sugar and flavoured with pandan
Arigatou for your detailed information. Intriguing!! Especially, blue and green colors symbolize funerals. I try to remember not to choose these colors as a gift. Are kuehs popular even among the younger generation? Kuehs are like our 和菓子, I guess?
