Cloved rice means, you put in clove when you cook rice?
Yes. Gives the basmati rice a nice fragrance. Can also put a stalk of smashed lemongrass in rice to cook. Good for southeast Asian flavour 😊

I didn't know that! I love it's fragrance. Do they usually use either of them? Can I use them for jasmine rice?
What's the name of the long rice usually served with Chinese dishes like 海南鶏飯, economic rice etc?
Yep I use lemongrass with jasmine rice quite frequent. Chinese dishes usually use jasmine rice. It's a medium grain, not long rice grain like basmati.

Oh! How many kinds of rices do you usually stock? Stocking a few varieties of rice is common?
Not common. I tend to have different rices at home because I cook different cuisines. Basmati for Indian, jasmine for Chinese and southeast Asian, short grain for Japanese and arborio for Italian. And er glutinous rice too for some Chinese dishes
