In a large mixing bowl combine dry ingredients and mix well.

In a stand up mixer with wire tool, mix buttermilk, eggs, and vanilla on high setting.

With mixer still running add in melted butter. Allow to mix 1 - 2 minutes or until bubbles start to form (NOT quite foamy though).

With mixer still running add dry ingredients, one large spoonful at a time until all ingredients have been incorporated.

With mixer still running add the milk one Tbsp at a time. Allow mixer to run for 1 - 2 minutes.

Using a waffle maker . . . Make waffles!

Mixed Berries

Cut up berries. Mix with simple syrup. Cool in fridge until ready to plate.

Strawberry Syrup

In a blender, combine all fresh fruit and puree until smooth.

Add strawberry preserves to blender and puree until smooth.

With blender running add simple syrup. Amount depends on how sweet you want it, but it also helps syrup thicken and keeps fruit from sinking to the bottom of the bottle.

Transfer to squeeze bottle and chill in fridge completely. For best results chill overnight, this is more important than you would think.
