Sour cabbage

Mixed mince meat

作り方

Filling: Wash rice. Cut onion and bacon in small cubes, crush garlic. Chop Italian parsley finely.
Preheat the oven to 200C.

Separate cabbage leaves carefully. Cut thick parts on the leaves. If the cabbage is too salty or sour, also if leaves are too thick place them into hot water to make them softer and/or less salty. Take them out of the water.

Put mince meat in the bowl, add rice, Vegeta, paprika powder, salt, pepper, Italian parsley and egg. Put little bit of oil in frying pan and cook onion and bacon, until onion golden brown. Mix it with minced meat filling and knead everything by hand.

Cut cabbage leaves in half if there are too big. Roll one tbsp of meat into cabbage. In the oven dish or clay pot put one or two leaves of cabbage to cover the bottom. Place rolled Sarma one by one inside horizontally or vertically (as you wish).

When you put all Sarmas inside the dish, place by leaves and parts of dry or smoked meat in between if you wish. Cover with one - two cabbage leaves. Pour warm water to cover all Sarma to the top leaves.

Cover with lid and bake 200C for at least 2hours - and half. Or you can cook on the stove using the same process for two hours and then put the sauce and cook for another 20 minutes/

or after two hours on the stove put the sauce and place it in the oven on 180C for 20min.

Meanwhile, preparing the sauce: put oil in the frying pan (medium heat) add flour and mix well.火止める Put aside from heat and mix paprika powder and tomato purée and water.

After two hours, take Sarma out of the oven and pour hot sauce in between. Don’t mix it just shake it a bit and return to the oven and bake for another 15-20min. Sprinkle with dry parsley and serve.
ポイント

As a side dish you can make mashed potato. Sarma is also delicious the next day. When you reheat it add extra water because sarma soaks a lot of water when cooled down.
