Is this a Korean version of かき氷🍧？

Something like that. But かき氷 is shaved ice, this one is shaved milk so it's nice and creamy when it melts!

Is this a new boom?

Yes indeed. We had like 10 Bingsu cafes opening in the last 2-3 months. I won't be surprised that some will start closing soon once the craze os over.

It's the same as our pancake boom. (^^).
Some Korean restaurants offer Bingsu but we don't have a shop specializing in Bingsu. I guess as we have autumn and winter.
Closing could be a good idea.

I wonder why many Chinese dessert shops keep existing. For me, whichever I eat, tastes are the same. 😁. Sweet potatoes, comported fruits, corns, dumplings.....all are in the syrup pool. Lol.
It might be the same you don't understand there are many 和菓子 shops in Japan.

Ya it's summer all year round here so cold desserts are very popular. Another boom is froyo(frozen yogurt)! I love wagashi!

I love froyo! And It's been quite long since I first tried. About nearly 20years ago?
But it's been failing to be a boom. Sad..😢lol.
Not every wagashi is delicious. And some of them tastes same even though thy have different names and looks! Haha.
