材料・調味料 (8 人分)
Smaller white beans
500g
Water
Around 3l
Onions
2pc
Carrot
1pc
Paprika
1pc
Smoked bacon or other smoked meat
100g
Oil
60ml
Bay leaves
2pc
Pepper
1tsp
Salt
3tsp
Tomato puree
3tbs

Oil

All purpose flour

Garlic
3cloves
Sweet paprika powder

作り方

Pre preparation;
Soak beans cold water for overnight. (At least for 3 hours.)

Chop onions and carrot in small pieces, but paprika in julienne. Crush garlic, cut bacon in stripes.

Throw the water away from beans, pour cold water (beans has to be covered completely) and cook for 15min. Then throw the water again and put new HOT WATER and continue cooking in low heat with half amount of onion.

In the meantime put remaining onion and carrot into frying pan with oil and cook a little bit on lower heat. Add bacon to it. Pour it in the pot with beans adding bay leaves and paprika. When beans become soft add salt and pepper.

Place frying pan on lower heat, add oil then flour. When it becomes bubbly add garlic, stir little, turn off the heat and then add sweet paprika powder, mix it well and pour into the beans. Cook on lower heat another 30min or so (depends of the beans size) until soften add tomato purée. Sauce should be thicker. Mix occasionally not to stick tot he bottom. Taste it and add more salt/pepper if it’s necessary. Overall cooking time of beans should be around 2hours.

Serve warm with bread.
Serbs usually eat cabbage salad or green(lettuce) salad. You can add other types of meat if you like (smoked pork ribs or other).
