Pasta and chilly turnips - Classic Italian dish

Turnips, cleaned
Bunch
Pasta (small round or tubes)
240 g
Chilly
To taste
Garlic

Extra V olive oil

This is a classic from South Italy.

Cook your turnips in a bit of water using the lid of the pot to steam them. The stems should be nice and soft.
Add some salt when cooked.

In a separate pan cut your garlic in 4 big chunks. Cut however much chilly you want to add and lightly fry garlic and chilly for a minute or so in extra olive oil.
About a table spoon of oil per person.

Remove garlic from the oil and switch off heat.
Mix your cooked turnips in the pan with the oil. If the turnips are cold reheat them first.
Taste for salt.

Boil enough water for the pasta and add salt before you add the pasta.
When cooked, drain pasta and add it to your pan with turnips and oil stirring well.

Time everything well!
Your pasta should be cooked at the end starting a few minutes before you switch off the heat of the garlic flavoured oil so that everything is nice and hot to serve.

This pasta is served without Parmesan cheese.
