in a sauce pan over medium heat, add in berries, sugar and water, bring it up to a simmer until the sauce thickens. using a fork to mash up the big chunks of berries. let cool and set aside
1
lets assemble the sandwich: spread mayo on 1 sandwich bread, top with cheddar cheese, turkey ham, cheddar cheese and spread the other slice of bread with honey mustard. press down the sandwich. wrap it up with plastic wrap and chill in fridge for 30 mins
2
lets make batter: in a bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt and beer well until no lumps. set aside for 15 min to let it sit and thickens
3
in a dutch oven with about 1 inch of oil and over medium to high heat, bring it to about 170 degrees. you can tell by dropping a drip of the batter into the oil. if it start to sizzle, your temperature is right
4
coat the sandwich well with the batter and gently drop into the oil. cook until both sides are golden brown. remove and drain off excess oil
5
once the sandwich is cool slightly, dust icing sugar over the sandwich, top with berries sauce and serve. voila! a perfect way to start thanksgiving... and perfect way to use any leftover turkey
ポイント

you can use any combination of berries you want. mine is mainly cranberries and raspberries.

if you do not wish to use beer, you can use milk instead for the batter, but the texture will not be the same
