Does sago mean tapioca? I can't imagine the texture...
Not tapioca. Sago is made from palm trees. It's a little chewy. You had bubble tea? The pearls are made from sago.
I know bubble tea. I'd thought the pearls are a kind of tapioca as they are sold " black tapioca " here.

Haha sago is a very tropical ingredient. It's eaten in Southeast Asia and Africa in slightly different forms. The 'pearl' version is very popular in Southeast Asia and we put it in desserts.

But I've never seen it kueh with sago in this pearl form. Oh, sago is sometimes used in shaving ice like 味珍香(?) sweets?
Usually sago pearls are boiled and served with gula Melaka syrup as a dessert. Common in singapore and Malaysia.
