I love satay, meat on skewers and grilled with charcoal, then served with a sauce made with spices, this really is my kind of food.Although I could get decent bottled satay sauce,I wanted to try making it from scratch,at least once,to see how it transforms. There are pork, chicken and beef, unlike authentic satay,I only marinated them lightly, that's how I like it if they are to dip into heavy sauces.Couldn't just have meat,I also made 'longtong'(white stuff),they are so good dipping into the sauce!Made with cooked and mashed up rice, then rolled into cylinder shape,or cake-like,and wrapped inside with banana leaves, there is a resemblance of all the Japanese pressed rice food. I am no expect n Indonesian food, long time was spend trying to make this authentic enough,if there is any Indonesian out there, suggestion is welcome!
sure I'm not Indonesian but It seems a perfect Indonesian satay! actually, it's not only satay but also such a pretty southern flowers & leaves makes much more exotic atmosphere for its satay!! I've never eaten 'longtong'. I just first imagine that it looks fried or roasted rice cake with a square shaped. It looks best matches with satay sauce!! anyway,I always respect and admire your awesome foods&decorative table settings.
Thank you Raycheal San,I tried my best... It was my special project.I love satay, both grilled meat and the sauce,so I reckon I should make from scratch, luckily all ingredients are easy to find in HK,I was satisfied with the result.I have only had lontong once long ago,so I gathered some information from internet to make this, turned out real good too, rice is bouncy and so delicious with satay sauce. I am into food photography now,so I use my day off to set up something more elaborate,I have lots of pleasure doing it and makes it worth while having your compliment, thanks so much,I appreciate you kindness! Thank you!Exactly the kind of mood I tried to create,so good to know it works!I know you are familiar with these scenes since you went diving many times.I could only imitate this at home now,my holidays are mostly spent in Japan😁...
