材料・調味料 (4 人分)

Meal Mate Crackers: 4

Sanitarium Marmite: To taste

Pepperoni Salami: 4-8 Slices

Surimi: Optional

Cashew & Basil Pesto: Optional

Cheese (pick your poison): 4 slices, thicker and smellier the better

作り方

1: Assemble 4x MealMate crackers (the originals, not the ones in the yellow box) on a surface that preferably hasn't hat raw chicken chopped up on it.

2: This is important... to me. Spread Marmite on the crackers to a level you're comfortable with. You can sub this for vegemite if you're in Australia, or Promite if you're in Palmerston North, but if you're in the UK, I wouldn't recommend doing this with British Marmite. Save yourself the grief, head to a specialty store, get the Sanitarium stuff. You don't need that much per serving.

3: Place cheese if choice on marmited cracker and allow to adhere to its new brown foundation. We have Edam cheese in the house out of habit, but the Mainland Aged Cheddar will give you breath that could knock out a horse.

Alternatively, add Surimi at this stage if you have any to hand (there is some in the photo), then put cheese on the top of that.

4: Add Salami, either a single slice or a double stack for the initiated. I prefer the pepperoni but you may have your own preference. I won't judge you and your salami ways (¬_¬).

5: Spread the pesto on nice and thick over the salami, thick enough to be measurable with a ruler. Why have I not done it in the photo? Because I didn't put pesto on the shopping list. #fail.

6: If you know of any other pungent toppings that you imagine would work well with this combination of doom then feel free to plant them in the pesto. My current theory is that sliced olives would work well, as would silvers of jalapeno.

7: Serve with your second favourite drink (because you don't want to potentially ruin your favourite one... Or because your favourite one was only available in Japan and went out of production years ago...) hot blackcurrant cordial is good.

8: Peace out.

Fresh crackers are best crackers.

The use-by date on your bag of salami is more of a guideline than anything.

Don't expect romance from your spouse if you've just downed these.
