Hefekloß🍴german dumplings with brown butter and cinnamon sugar

Combine milk and butter in a large mixing bowl and heat it up until it's lukewarm. Beat the eggs until smooth and add it to the milk mixture.

Sprinkle in the yeast. Pour the other dry ingredients into the bowl too and mix it well to get a dough that is firm enough to be gathered into a ball.
Set in a warm, draft free place for about 45 minutes, or until the dough doubles in volume.

Place the dough on a lightly floured surface and knead it. You probably had to repeat the flouring to prevent the dough from sticking.

When the dough is smooth and elastic, form a roll and cut into pieces. Shape them into balls, about 1 1/2 inches in diameter.

Lay the dumplings on a floured board and allow them to rise again until doubled.

Steam the dumplings for 15-20 minutes or until they are firm to the touch.
ポイント

The dough/ prepared dumplings will rise easier if you cover them with a clean kitchen towel.

Traditionally they are served with stewed fruit compote or meats.
