In a bowl add milk powder, flour and baking powder and mix well.

Add milk gradually and mix to a soft dough. Cover and leave to rest for 10 mins.

Meanwhile bring sugar, water and the cardamon pods to a boil( i only used 1 cup sugar ) until 1 string consistency.

Cover the syrup and set aside.

Divide the milk dough into 15 pieces or more depending on the size you want. Roll each piece between your palm to make smooth balls.

Heat sufficient amount of oil in a pan on low heat and fry the balls until golden brown . Note that the balls will puff a little when frying. For an even cooking stir the balls from time to time , careful not to burn yourself.

Place the fried balls on a paper towel to remove excess oil .

Transfer the balls to the warm syrup and soak for about 15 mins or 1 hour.

Gulab jamuns are ready when it has soaked up enough syrup and doubles in size.
