Guava and calamansi kakigori/グァバとカラマンシーかき氷

Of course there is the ultimate summer treat.
This year I am trying with guava,which I also love,but rarely making things with it.With addition of calamansi,tiny citrus fruit,a cross between lime and mandarin.

日本の夏も、かき氷は風物詩だけど、こんなトロピカルなのはリゾート風だね。柑橘系で爽やかなのかな〜❤︎

I know sometimes it's harder to get tropical fruits in Japan,this guava is from Taiwan,I hope you could try sometime,it's very delicious!
I got the idea from reading about Hawaiian food,it's popular there!

I got this idea when reading about Hawaiian food,and luckily I could find both guava and calamansi here,so I could try this specialty of theirs.I love kakigori in summer,and sometimes I want to share unusual ideas here,such a shame many tropical fruits are hard to find in Japan,the guavas we have here are from China,they are most aromatic,but not always available,these are from Taiwan,not bad.
I think some Hawaiian restaurants in Japan might serve this kakigori,or at least I think they should,it has a lovely tropical flavor!Frozen guava purée shouldn't be too difficult to find for professionals!
whoahh! must be pretty tangy.. i could imagine how my face looks like lol.. but way better than too sweet drinks.. good!

Not too much tangy at all.Quava is sweet itself.Calamansi was made into a syrup,and drizzled on,it is there for flavors layering,you kind of get a sweet spoonful then and a sour one next,very interesting!

Guava is very aromatic,and it's best to eat raw,it's very good served on shaved ice,I got this idea reading about Hawaiian food,very popular there!
Calamansi is from south east Asia,but not many place sell this in HK too.Small citrus fruit(in the photo!👆),tastes sour,like something between lime and mandarin.
My shave ice machine is not as good as the shops',but good enough to have at home!

Haha,I was doubting if I had done something wrong,luckily you said "in a good way",thank you,j take that as a compliment!
Guava juice is wonderful,sometime I think it's better than the fruit itself,which is quite fibrous and has too many seeds.But I love to make things from scratch,and we have excellent fresh guava here,might as well make use to it,I puréed it and strained out the seeds,I really love it on shaved ice.
Japanese fruits are well known for it's top quality,we could buy them here,but the price is crazy high.Fortunately when it comes to tropical fruits,we are in a happy place!
I never had guava kakigori anywhere,it's so refreshing!And what's good about kakigoris is that the possibility is endless,I could always find exciting combination to try!
