Remove the root from the cabbage, cut it in around 8 pieces. Dice onion, cut all meat and bacon in chunks, about 4cm. Slice or crush garlic.

In smaller pot put around 40ml of prepared oil and cook paprika powder over low heat, not to burn.

Prepare bigger clay or other pot and put some oil, put layers of cabbage on the bottom and then mixed meat, bacon, garlic and one-half onion, repeat the process until you use all ingredients.

Put bay leaves inside and pour paprika powder oil mixture. Place the cabbage on the top. Pour remaining oil and cold water and cook on a low heat about 2hours.

The cooking water should evaporate as cabbage should not be watery. Check the bottom of the pot not to burn. Traditionally served with seljacka proja.
