So I took my sister to Tokyo for sightseeing and we stayed at my lovely friends' from Nepal.
Her husband and her requested Persian "polo" or "butter rice" and to pretty it up I decided to make a simpler version of "Morassa Polo" or "jewelled rice" which is butter rice with a colourful and sweetish tasting topping of mixed saffron, nuts (pistachio & almonds), orange peel and barberries. The recipe actually differs slightly from one house to another so there are many equally delicious versions!
Here I didn't mix the topping with rice as I wasn't sure if they'd like it, later they said that they loved it though ❤︎
Rice is then accompanied with a simple chicken curry sauce and spicy pickled tomato sauce from Nepal and pan fried garlic flavour spinach.
