I have made many gazpachos, red, orange, yellow, white and even green last year, now it's this purple one. I once had this at 'The Fat Duck',a famous restaurant in England,I could never forget how good it was. Here is my take,I have simplified it a little, not as delicious as the original, but good enough. What was it made with?I will reveal now... Red cabbage, served with mustard cream.
Thank you Makiko, well before summer,I had my mind set to make a purple gazpacho this year!I actually had one before and it was unforgettable, but it's a little tricky to make, red cabbage is juiced rather than puréed,and thickened with bread and mayonnaise. I was happy with last year's melon gazpacho,I miss it now! So glad you like it too, makes me happy to know my food appears on other people's table!
Haha not sure when my next UK trip is! but Heston relocated The Fat Duck to Melbourne while he renovated the Uk one, you must have read it about it. Apparently it was booked out in seconds. Insane !
Not difficult to imagine! I actually didn't know about it,it seems to be last year...and if I am not mistaken, his other restaurant 'dinner' still operating in Melbourne,I hope you could secure a reservation,I heard it's good too!
Please don't say that,I always love to chat about food! Did every course live up to my expectations? Not only that, they wowed me course after course, ten years on,and I am still raving about it!Each dish was well constructed, perfectly balanced and always a surprise element. It was one of the best meal I had! Since then,I have watched closely at Heston's work, books,tv shows, and I could say,my style of cooking now is hugely influenced by him. The ranking of Fat Duck has dropped immensely the recent years,I am not sure why,but knowing the kind of person he is,he would never let the quality of his food decline,I just think people has lost the excitement,he doesn't change his menu much... Anyway I am visiting London in Oct,already reserved a table at 'Dinner',I will definitely give you a report,if you are interested!
Wow I didn't even know The Fat Duck has been around for this long! Haha mind blowing! I watched him on tv (Masterchef Australia) and that's as much as I know about him haha. From what you've described, his food sounds truly amazing! Yes I would love to read your "report" haha !! I'm sure it will be another memorable experience ! Keep me posted !
Yes,it has been around for a long time. Even then,it was already a busy and well known restaurant amongst foodies. The restaurant owner I worked for recommended me it when he knew I was going to London. The place being way out of London,I didn't plan to go at first, but luckily we got a last minute table for lunch, that's makes this experience even more special! Sure,I will keep you posted, meanwhile please enjoy all those amazing food in Australia,I envy you a lot having all those wonderful restaurants there!
Hi Anunnaki!Happy new year! 祝你身體健康,心想事成! Sorry I've left it too long,I've been lazy. Here's the report I promised. I had a wonderful meal at 'Dinner',we tried most of the signature dishes, every one of them was well constructed, made with top quality ingredients, there were minor flaws with execution, some dishes were slightly over-salted,the famous tipsy cake was too sweet for me,and the recommended chips side dish was not memorable at all. But the wine was good(not cheap),and the servers were very professional and made our meal so enjoyable. All in all,I love this experience! I also went to Gordon Ramsay at Hospital Road for lunch. We ordered set lunches, the wait staffs were amazing, the dishes all well executed, nothing that I could fault, but it was all very safe and predictable, the place is a little stiff and formal, and quite pricy too,I am not sure if I need a second visit. My most memorable meal was actually at 'Clove club',I read it was the highest climber in 'best 50 restaurants',I wanted to pick a contemporary restaurant,so I took a chance on them. And I was blown away. From cocktail right down to dessert and petits fours, not a single thing failed to impress me,some were playful and some were classics flavour combinations, every mouthful was a delight.Again the wait staffs were super friendly and knowledgeable,we were so well taken care of whole night. Really glad I picked this place,I would highly recommend it if you ever visit London! I also had a fine meal at Cecconi's Mayfair(Italian),and Golden Hind(fish and chips). So there you go,I hope this helps! I apologise again for the delay.
Hi Rikk SnapDish must have screwed up the notifications, I only just noticed these messages by accident!
Happy new year to you too!! 雞祥如意!
Thank you for such a thorough report of your food adventures! I enjoyed reading it immensely!
I will look up Clove Club, Cecconi's and Golden Hind right now! Haha
When I was in London back in 2009, I dined at Gordon Ramsays restaurant at Mayfair, the best dish was actually their complimentary amuse bouche and the mains were underwhelming ...so I think I know what you meant haha...
Did you try Dinner in Melbourne? Or is there one in London?
No worries,I guessed you turned off notification, imagining if I were you,I would... I was going to wait a bit, before I send you a message at 'my 365',luckily you finally saw this! The 'Dinner' restaurant I tried is in Knight's Bridge,London.I have never been to Melbourne.I have a good feeling about the one in Melbourne, knowing it's ran by the same team. About Gordon Ramsay,I really was expecting something better too... Anyway, these are just my personal opinion, hope you might find it helpful whenever you visit London!
Thanks Rikk! Appreciated your reviews! I have 365 & snapdish notifications set to in-app only. So I would only see them when I open these apps. But somehow I missed the notifications anyway for this long! Sorry and thanks again for your reviews! I truly enjoyed it

そう言えば、昨年はリックの「メロンとキュウリのガスパッチョ」を作って、とても美味しかったことを思い出した!今年も作るよ!
Bucketful ice makes me very cozy.

I used a deep tray of ice to present this,it has a cooling effect on the soup, and the eyes too!
Really was one of my most memorable dining experience, but it's never too late for you!
